Mnemonics

Mnemonics are memory aids. The human brain can recall information faster and easier when it associates pieces of unfamiliar data with something familiar. For instance, placing your car keys next to an item that you need to take to work or school with you the next day will help you remember to take it.

In marketing, mnemonics can help you to remember all of the tasks that you need to perform in a day. Creating a mnemonic anagram by taking the first letter of each task and arranging them into a word will give you a road map for your workday. Here’s an example of four basic tasks you might need to perform each morning:

Check email
Post classified ads
Write articles
Return phone calls

An mnemonic anagram that you could use for these would be

R eturn calls
A rticle writing
C lassified ads
E mail

You could also scramble the letters and use CARE or ACRE if those words instill a better feeling of motivation in you. Regardless of what the anagram is you have created a mnemonic that will help you accomplish what you need to during your busy day.

Mnemonics can also be used to connect one task to the next. Most people don’t just think about washing clothes without adding the task of drying clothes automatically. Setting up a sequence and memorizing that can help keep your day organized.
