Mesothelioma
Mesothelioma is a form of cancer that is caused by asbestos exposure. There are three types of Mesothelioma:
- Pleural: Lung
- Peritoneal: Abdominal
- Pericardial: Heart
The cancer develops in the lining surrounding the lung, abdomen, or heart, not in the organ itself. Cigarette smoking can complicate the condition but is not a contributing cause. Asbestos is the only known cause of Mesothelioma and it can take years after exposure to show up. If you worked with asbestos back in the 60’s and 70’s you may still be at risk.

Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and surgery are all options for the treatment of Mesothelioma.
